Te Tūranga The opportunity 

We are afterbroadcast journalist with some newsroom experience to bring their storytelling skills to RNZ’s Checkpoint. You will have confidence interviewing in the field, packaging both stories of the day and your own story ideas and be adept at working to strict daily deadlines. 

Te Mahi – About the job

You will help create a vibrant, live experience on air and online which draws on a wider range of story-telling techniques including visual elements (stills, video, graphics and live to camera), live video streaming, strong writing, research and angle generation, the attraction of great talent and development of a social media audience and engagement with it.  

You will be brimming with ideas and have a thirst for breaking stories across platforms.

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

You will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in journalism coupled with some broadcasting experience.
  • Effective working knowledge of national and international news and current affairs.
  • Skills in live production – on-air and online.
  • Experience and ability in working with teams in pressured situations with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to appear on screen or willingness to do so and learn the skills.
